The Wilson Tunnel was created sixteen years ago to link the two exhibition buildings at the Museum of Fine Arts in Houston.
The Light Inside is a permanent display within the tunnel built by American artist James Turrell who pioneered the light and space movement in the mid-1960s. It was commissioned by and donated to the museum by Isabel and Wallace Wilson.
In this installation artwork, neon and ambient light are used to create an ethereal passageway to contemplate the relationship of light and space.
